Senior Pastor Mike's Vision for Cornerstone Church
January 2009
After having served as Senior Pastor to Cornerstone Church for more than thirty years, I thought this an opportune time to restate the vision I have tried to maintain during those years for Cornerstone.
First Principles
After establishing that the basic doctrinal stance of a church is indeed scriptural and evangelical in nature, the next step of any interested party should be to attempt to discern the inner ‘soul’ of the church in question. For the three decades I have served here as Senior Pastor that question has been best answered by lesson 8 of our 12 class series of teaching that we refer to as ‘Membership 101’ or ‘First Principles’,
The lesson below, "Spiritual Growth Without Self Righteousness,” condenses much of my heart’s desire for Cornerstone to be a haven from toxic religion and a place to nurse back to health those who have been wounded by Christianity at its worst.
2009
As we enter 2009, I have asked our Pulpit Committee here to begin the search for a new Senior Pastor for Cornerstone Church. All living things must change, and the future will be full of challenges and wonderful surprises.
My heart’s desire for Cornerstone is that they will continue to be true to God’s Scriptures and also continue to seek to be a haven for the weary spiritual traveler.
