Women's Ministry
Cornerstone's Women's Ministry is multi-dimensional, ministering to body, soul, and spirit and offers opportunities to serve the Lord and one another in our church family.
Spritual growth through the study of God's Word is encouraged in our small groups, "The Ladies' Bible Study" and the "The Disciples For Life." In addition to the in-house study times, we periodically venture out on trips to Christian Women's Conferences and other occasional events, such as "Psalms on the Lake."
Psalms on the Lake
"Psalms on the Lake" is an early morning devotional time, highlighted by heart-felt discussion, hot coffee, and savory sausage biscuits -- during which we share Biblical and personal insights with each other, as we peacefully float together in linked canoes and kayaks in the midst of Salem's beautiful Loch Haven Lake.
A Place For Service
Realizing that the internal walk of faith and Bible study must be coupled with the external shining forth of good deeds (Matthew 5:16), we individually find places to serve the Lord and one another in some of the many areas for service at Cornerstone, such as the Caring Hearts Ministry and in establishing and maintaining newly developed projects, such as "The Children's Library & Art Gallery." Women are encouraged to look to their own strengths and consider how they may find ways to minister to members of all ages. For instance, one of our public school history teachers, Liz Hogan, has recently started "The Cornerstone Girls' Reading Club." Liz's infectious love of wholesome literature is imparted to the young girls who attend the club's meetings, and they are all looking forward to "Miss Liz's Christmas Tea," coming up this December.
A Place For fellowship
Our times of fellowship -- so good for body and soul -- knit us together in God's love. Laughter and chatter flow at our Women's Breakfasts, luncheons, "Days At the Lake," and "Christmas Cookie Exchanges." This year we had a themed luncheon, complete with teaching on women's health issues. We are planning a Mother/Daughter Gathering for Mother's Day this coming Spring, along with another fun-filled day of canoeing, swimming, kayaking, ping pong and so much more at Loch Haven Lake.
It is a GOOD LIFE! Come worship, study, play, and serve with us!
